News: Penang Han Chiang High School Prize-giving

(7 Jan, Penang)  Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) will be pair off in school, including hall, classroom, field, examination hall and etc, estimated would cost hundreds of thousands of ringgit, said Chairman of Han Chiang Dato’ Seri Ooi Soo Hing.

Dato Ooi in the prize giving ceremony 2015 which organised by parent-teacher associations said, a lot of good comments was given by Chinese parents. They devoted to the board of directors of the Han Chiang and thanked the attitude of a good when they visited the school.

Dato Ooi feel satisfied to students’ result with flying colours. He mentioned the ceremony for student is only an external encouragement, the real success is students learning to cherish and share results.

“Students not only have to cherish the result that they get, but to share the achievement of tips with friends as teacher teach them with selfless love.”

The chairman of parent-teacher associations Lim Chao Zhong said, parent-teacher association spend around ten thousand ringgit yearly for sponsoring school activity, make students more active in engaging, balance development in terms of academic and extracurricular activities.

“Student success through various games and tests confirmed that their own ability and value, but the memory of the past glory blindly will only make people stagnate, we should set a higher and further target to create brilliance.”

Besides, Lim mentioned, prize-giving ceremony is to praise those student who did well and win honour for Han Chiang.

“I would like to thank all of the teachers and coaches who taught students hardly and diligently,” he added.

The principal of Han Chiang High School Kung Bee Lee reveal, they have more than 400 students who get prizes in the year of 2015. It is the most over the years, which proves that the development of quality education that Han Chiang High School provided help students and cultivate high-quality students to the international stage to become the pillar of the country.

She also wish students who are going to Yale university scholar cup finals team won the international debate in next month, once again, win honour for our school.

The principal added, Han Chiang High School student get the result with flying colours in both academic and sports games of state, national and even international, in total of 152 championship, 147 1st runner-up and 85 2nd runner-up.

Three students, i.e Ooi Dong Zhan, Ho Jia Xuan and Zhuo Jia Teng, won the proud achievement individual in many competition. Besides obtaining the special award, they also get a phone as reward.


Penang Chinese Girls' Private High School: The only GIRLs’ independent school in Malaysia


Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School is one of an independent schools in Malaysia. It is the only ALL-girls Chinese independent high school in Malaysia. It offers a 6-year-course and allow students to choose either an internationally recognised examination which is UEC or follow the Malaysian government exam which are PT3 and SPM.

The first build Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School is the Hokkien immigrants from China in 1919. In the second year, they only have 52 students. The school was forced to break temporal in 1941 due to the second world war. It continues teaching in 1945. Penang Chinese Girls’ High School accepted the change of system in 1962. However, the Chinese-based kept in different school name from the high school, thus Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School.

The principle of Chinese Girls’ Private High School Leow Jing Yi reveal, despite the number of new students will be less then others, she believed the “GIRLS school” has its own feature in future. This is the reason that the principle and board of director insist not to merge with boy for those 97 years.

In the fast-changing century nowadays, to make the GIRLs special, the principle started a course in school to cultivate student be a modern women since five years ago. This course will be set based on the Form that students are. Bellow are the courses that different Forms of student take:

The principle added, education is a sacred job. In the 21st century nowadays, students have no problem to search the information on website through the internet accession. Miss Leow believe, for education nowadays, not only to impart knowledge but to teach students the correct attitude towards their life. The view of life values is getting important for personal, as the compressive resistance of people (especially teenagers) are getting weak in our society nowadays. As a teacher, they have the responsibility to teach their students the correct way to overcome themselves while facing problem at anytime.

It has been over 10 years that Miss Leow be the principle of Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School. “Chinese education needs the volunteer to work out for teaching and helping” Miss Leow answer happily when asking about the reason that she stay in this school for those many years. She has been here since the year of 2003, and that time she’s the teacher of Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School.

News: Three Newscasters to be BORN





The annual contest of  Anchor Idol Newscaster Quest 2015 final round to be held at Penang Queensbay Mall, which organised by Penang Han Chaing College. 

Anchor Idol Newscaster Quest is a platform for those students who are in 15 until 19 years old to participate, to give students a chance to learn and know more about broadcasting and newscaster.

Three contestant will be choose for each categories to continue into final round. The final round contestant have to undergo two rounds of test, which are reporting news in live and impromptu speech. 

The winners of championship are Fasihah Nadirah Binti Ishak from many category, Sheree Tan Chun Yee from English category and Goh Yong Le from chinese category. 

Three winners will receive RM2000 by cash, full scholarship in Han Chiang College and certificate. 

One of the judges of 2015 Anchor Idol Newscaster Quest Tan Ley Teng revealed, she saw a big improvement from the presentation of the contestant, especially in pronunciation. 

The organisation provides three categories for participants, there are Chinese category, English category and Malay category. 

There are only 15 of them to be choose among 45 of the contestants in orientation. 


Judges included Newscaster of 8tv Oven Yap, Newscaster of RTM Ivan Toh and Hezeldesmond, Newscaster of Astro Awani Melissa Wong, last but not least the alumni of Han Chiang College and the newscaster of NTV7 Tan Ley Teng.
